As a Quantity Surveyor I undertake a full client side service supporting the Estates Total Facilities Management Contract. By administering the NEC Term Service Contract I manage a range of services across the Estate as it temporarily retains land and property outside the construction main works. Liaison with financial and programme control colleagues enables monitoring and coordination of cost reporting matters such as Cost of Work Done, Payment Applications, Purchase Order tracking, Budgeting and Forecasting. I set up Management Systems to effectively control costs by monitoring spend against budget to ensure best value is achieved. Budget balance is tracked against work commitments to ensure compliance against each respective cost centre is achieved. Financial information is regularly reviewed and updated in order to manage budgetary control. Other activities that I regularly carry out include maintaining trackers for Insurance claims to enable costs to be recharged to Projects, evaluating Payment Applications for audit and quality assurance, certifying work completion in conjunction with Valuations and Final Accounts and monitoring the Principle Contractor to ensure contract compliance and financial computation.

My role as an Estates Officer is to plan and manage handover dates of various projects in accordance with the Milestone Schedule. I also deal directly with colleagues based on site in order to capture dates which have been missed from the schedule. To manage the transference of construction handovers of parcels of land and sites between Principle Contractors I regularly attend site interface meeting so that items that need to be dealt with prior to handover can be identified. By liaising with stakeholders such as Project Managers, London Underground and Transport for London, the site team and I are able to identify property risks relevant to handover and carry out action in order to mitigate such risk. Appropriate documentation is coordinated including the Construction Interface Control Document, Health and Safety File, Minutes of Meetings, Site Inspections and Condition Surveys. Regular liaison takes place with internal stakeholders including Construction, Engineering and Site Managers as well as external stakeholders including such as London Underground to ensure compliance with systems of work relating to statutory compliance in the given location. I routinely organise and/or attend meetings and workshops, prepare agendas, take and transcribe Minutes/Trackers as appropriate. Working closely with multiple Contractor interfaces on a number of sites I am motivated to share good practice and improve the Health and Safety of Crossrail and its Contractors within area delivery. Work tasks and duties are carried out in a safe ma
