NEC Experience: Prior to 2014 my project experience was based entirely on the ICE conditions of contract.

This was a requirement of the trunk road contracts in Scotland where I worked until 2014. Since taking up my current position with Perth & Kinross Council I have worked with NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract on the following projects. Until now I have fulfilled the role of Employer’s representative, overseeing the project for the client (Perth and Kinross Council). After completing the NEC Project Manager Accreditation course I now hope to take on the role of Project Manager in future projects.

Kinross Business Park – This was an NEC3 ECC Short Contract (Option B) for a project worth approximately £500,000.
The project consisted of the construction of access roads, infrastructure and landscaping for a new business park on the western edge of the town of Kinross.
My role in the this contract was as the ‘Employers Representative’ and I oversaw the construction of the project, monitored the budget, liaised as necessary with the Project Manager and Contractor and also instructed revisions as necessary during the project.

Kinross High Street Environmental Improvements – This was an NEC3 ECC (Option B) Contract for a project worth approximately £1,000,000. The project consisted of complete reconstruction of the High Street in Kinross with new materials and street furniture to regenerate the town centre. My role in this contract was as the ‘Employers Representative’ and I oversaw the construction of the project, monitored the budget, appointed a Project Manager, appointed a Supervisor, appointed a Main Contractor and also instructed revisions to the works as necessary during the project.

Mill Street Public Realm Improvements - This is an NEC3 ECC (Option B) Contract for a project worth approximately £1,500,000. The project consisted of complete reconstruction of Mill Street in the city of Perth with new materials and street furniture to regenerate this street in the city centre and compliment the construction of the new Perth Theatre. It is currently in detailed design stage. My current role in this contract is as the ‘Employers Representative’ and I am overseeing the detailed design of the project. When the project moves into construction I will take up the role of Project Manager under the ECC (Option B) contract.

Perth Transport Futures Phase 1 – This is to be an NEC3 ECC Contract (Option A) for a project worth approximately £39,000,000. It is currently in detailed design stage and involves a new link road, trunk road grade separated junction, footbridge, two large culverts and a trunk road over-bridge. This project is required to facilitate the western expansion of the city of Perth in Scotland. My role is to oversee the detailed design and construction of the project as part of the Employer’s client team.
