Current Position: Operations Director
NEC Experience: Over the past 5 years I have worked on projects which have used a variety of main contract and subcontract NEC3 Conditions. During my employment as a Quantity Surveyor/Contract Consultant I advised Clients on contractual matters on ECC and ECS Contracts. My experience at Currie & Brown helped to cement my understanding of NEC3 ECC. Thereafter, during my employment with a Construction Contracts Consultancy I was seconded to a Civil Engineering Contractor to assist with the preparation of Compensation Events; Assessment of the Amount Due and site re-measurement of bill of quantity items. The project involved the provision of civil engineering infrastructure to a 132KV Substation.

Upon completion of this exercise my next involvement on NEC3 Contracts came way of advising a number of subcontractors on NEC3 ECS Conditions on the £800M Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Our role was to review the contract documentation and advise our clients on the contract requirements. All our subcontractor clients were using NEC3 for the first time and were not fully aware of their obligations detailed within the Works Information and ECS Option A Contract Conditions.

Currently, I am the Operations Director for Ross Quality Control Limited responsible for managing our NEC3 Supervisor Operations throughout the United Kingdom. In order to ensure that we deliver NEC3 / P21+ NEC3 Services in line with our Clients expectations myself and our Managing NEC3 Supervisor for England & Wales sat and passed the NEC3 ECC Supervisor Accreditation. Moving forward my role involves advising our NEC3 Supervisors, Clients and fellow Consultants alike of our role and obligations under the NEC3 ECC Contract. The majority of our NEC3 experience is NHS work however we have recently seen an increase in higher and further education sectors including our recent appointment to deliver NEC3 Supervisor Services on the £15M University of Edinburgh Large Animal Research and Imaging Facility at Easter Bush Campus.
