David Pyatt, BSc, MRICS

Name: David Pyatt, BSc, MRICS
Affiliations: (NECReg)
Address: Unit 2, Canal Arm, Festival Park, Stoke on Trent ST1 5UR
Current Position: Associate Director, Faithful+Gould Limited
NEC Experience: I am a Chartered Quantity Surveyor who became Faithful+Gould Head of Highways for the Midlands region in 2015. I have worked in the highways and infrastructure sector for most of his career supporting clients in pre and post contract roles delivering scheme through development, risk and opportuntity management as well as contract administration.

My key NEC experience includes:

•    NEC contract administration (PSC & ECC) and Project Management
•    Dispute management and resolution
•    Risk and opportuntity management
•    Cost verification and audit
•    CEMAR and digital NEC management programmes
•    Tender preparation and assessment for NEC contracts
•    Change management

My employer (Faithful+Gould) are UK Gold members of the NEC User’s Group

I provide a Project Management role to the Highways England’s Smart Motorway Programme to support the client in all aspects of NEC administration and deliver a portfolio of works across the network. This requires a proactive and collaborative role to be engaged with many projects to ensure timely delivery and accurate forecasting of costs.

I have led the Highways England Commercial Resolution Team to provide support and advice to the client on potential disputes and contract management. As part of the role I provided onsite support to Highways England projects in both Major Projects and SMP in addition to independently assessing potential cases raised by the Highways England Project Managers / Sponsors.
The role required me to have an excellent working knowledge of NEC contracts (PSC, ECC etc), specifically Option A, C and E. I integrated with many project teams within Highways England and led the teams through specific tasks such as forensic audit of cost, subcontract audits, project management support and contract administration. As a result of my internal working knowledge of Highways England schemes I am able to demonstrate added value to the schemes by understanding the internal pressures that may influence business decisions.
