Name: James Fentiman, BEng (Hons) Mst , IEng, MICE, MQCI
Affiliations: (NECReg)
Current Position: Senior Design Manager
NEC Experience: I have attending the below formal training sessions regarding NEC
•    1 day internal NEC training course – 02/02/2016
•    4 day ECC NEC 3 Project Manager Course – 05/03/18, 06/03/18, 19/03/18, 21/03/18

My involvement in administering the NEC Contact has mainly been involved with Design Management. My current role is as Senior Design Manager managing a team of 5 Design Managers. I also lead the Work Package (WP51) which includes the majority of scheme designs within my area of responsibility – parts N1 and N4 of the HS2 Sector North Route. In the lead role for WP51 I identify and ensure notification of all Early Warnings both downstream to the Designer and upstream to the Client. I also draft and consult with the Project Manager for agreement of any Compensation Events and Instructions. I support my Design Managers in regular reviews to ensure all design risks and issues are correctly administered as per the contract. I also ensure updated programmes are reviewed and rejected or if (as per reasons noted in the contract) are rejected. I lead the organization of Design based Risk Reductions Meetings and ensure relevant required parties are noted as being required to attend, for example the Main Works Civil Contractor.
